Coachella Valley Alternative Medicine Society
Initial Proposal and Goals for the Formation of the Coachella Valley Alternative Medicine Society
Proposal: To form an association and professional organization, a society of alternative healers, medical and wellness practitioners.
Goals: To bring together into a professional association of physicians, practitioners, therapists healers, and qualified lay persons to share information, network, educate and generally have a forum to communicate for the purposes of improving ones self and their standard of patient care in the Coachella Valley.
It is proposed that an initial group be considered as the founding members of this organization and that they assume the task of finding and introduce a minimum of twenty candidates for membership.
The founding group will act as a membership committee and vote for or against each candidate based on criteria that they establish for membership.
Once twenty members have been selected they will form a committee to create a constitution, by-laws, and specific purpose and goals (beyond those stated above). To this intention the initial meetings will have the purpose of discussion to determine if such an organization is desired. The initial group would be then assume the role as the interim governing body or Organizing Committee.
A series of meeting will then be scheduled to provide opportunity to find and introduce at least 20 additional new members. At this point a full membership committee of 5 people would be appointed. Those members already voted upon will become Founding Members.
Once there are a minimum of 40 members they will organize and form an Executive Committee, then arrange for elections or appointment of a Board of Directors and Operating Officers (including President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) at sometime in the near future.
It is hereby suggested that until otherwise decided upon by the Executive Committee or Board of Directors, membership should be open to all persons who wish to join. The Board of the Directors and the Membership Committee will as part of regular busienss consider qualifications for membership.
It us hereby suggested that the Executive Committee or Board of Directors appoint a Program Committee. The purpose of this committee will be to arrange for and coordinate 1) programs for each general meeting and 2) special programs of interest to the membership.
Beyond these suggestions the Executive Committee or Board of Directors will then in an orderly process set the purpose, tone, schedule and agenda for this society. It is also agreed that all above appointments will serve at the discretion of the elected Board of Directors or Executive Committee based on a finalized constitution for a term period set by the Board of Directors. It will also be understood that the appointed Chairpersons for the Membership, Program and Constitution Committees will appoint their own committees and arrange for their own meeting time and place. The Board of Directors will set deadlines and goals.
The Board of Directors and Executive Committee will set and define their own schedule of meetings and agendas and will hold at least one meeting each year for elections of new members.
